For nearly 80 years, Sophus’ family was the dominant creative force behind Holmegaard Glassworks, helping transform a traditional Danish glass factory into an established brand. Growing up surrounded by creativity, product development, and production, Sophus witnessed firsthand the power of long-term relationships and the essential synergy between designers and craftsmen—an invaluable lesson that continues to shape his work today.

After years in art schools and earning a degree in Industrial Design, Sophus’ true education began in 2003 when he joined David Lewis Designers. Guided by an enduring curiosity and a relentless pursuit of simple, original, and meaningful design solutions, Sophus was deeply influenced by David Lewis and his uncompromising design integrity. David’s mentorship shaped Sophus’ understanding of the true essence of design—an influence he is forever grateful for and fully committed to carrying forward.
